Would you give a thank you card?

My neighbor came by my house tonight to invite me to hang out with her anytime. Her husband is a fireman and gone a few days a week, and I am a single mother. I don't have many friends. She even invited me to another neighbors baby shower she is throwing. I thought that was so nice of her to extend her friendship like that. Would it be weird to give her a thank you card for bring so nice?
