Why are musicians always the target of accusations?
More so than any other art form, musicians are accused and condemned. The "Satanic" label spans from Wagner, to Led Zeppelin, and from Robert Johnson to Cannibal Corpse. Bands like Rammstein and Marilyn Manson were the first thought when Columbine happened. People acted like Jim Morrison was some kind of Anti-Christ, and he had a warrant out for his arrest, until the day that he died. Also, John Lennon quotes were picked apart, and his lyrics were studied by the C.I.A., and they even tried to deport him. Anyway, this list goes on and on, spanning just about every genre. As a musician myself, I want to know why this happens. Is it because music is such a universal art form? Is it because putting these labels on people explains their success the "easy" way, without taking true talent into consideration? What do you think?
