Should I change my pencil grip?

I hold my pencil different than the main tripod grip. I want to build my drawing skills even more but I think my pencil grip is preventing me. I have tried the tripod pencil grip and I feel like i lose control of my pencil allot. Most good artists use the tripod grip because it is comfortable for them and so do i think its comfortable. My pencil grip hurts my hand after a while and can make it difficult write and draw after a while. I draw much better with me pencil grip rather than the traditional tripod pencil grip. Should I change my pencil grip or leave it as it is.
