What would the likely fallout or reaction be if a US President were to reveal that he was Gay?

I think his party members would shy away from asking him to step down simply out of the fear of being seen as gay bashers. On the other hand, public outcry would be tremendous (look at the results of the marriage amendment ping in many of the states). I think the opposing party would use it against him and his party, by saying he lied about being straight and all that. I think he would step down simply because his approval rating would crumble. Bush's approval rating would look glorious in comparison. But this is all speculation, and I am not saying this is how it will be, but this is just a guess
